A special message from Superintendent Holtom. Next Wednesday, July 1, The Oroville City Elementary School District will be sharing publicly our comprehensive plan regarding the reopening of schools in August. I want to reassure parents that we will be offering multiple programs for students and their families, including a traditional 5 day a week program following our regular bell schedule, in addition to an enhanced distance learning program that was similar to the one we had in the spring. I know you have numerous questions and we are working very hard to provide a lot of answers as part of our July 1 press release. Following that July 1 press release we will be surveying families again to help us better prepare for the reopening of schools.

THis is not the way we ever imagined our year ending. We hope you are all well, and safe. I am calling to ask you all for little help. Next week is teacher appreciation week. I am asking if each of you could take a few minutes at some time early this week to send a message of appreciation to your teacher. This could be as creative as you would like it to be. You could create a video message, create a piece of art and send a picture of it to your teacher, or even just a short message through google classroom. Let your teachers know how much they mean to you. Also, Please find us on Facebook at Oakdale Heights https://www.facebook.com/groups/187369838340667 Have fun with this, and we hope to see you in person in some way soon. Have a great weekend.

Good afternoon Oakdale families. I hope you are all staying healthy during this challenging time. I wanted to thank you all for the effort you are putting forth during this distance learning process. It is new to all of us and it may change a little as we get better at it. For now, I want to remind you that it is important to respond to teachers reaching out to you at least once a week, and that students are doing the work assigned. Teachers need to have contact with students on a weekly basis so that they know how to plan and support your student. Thank you in this effort, If you have not heard from your teacher, please make sure that we have the correct email address and phone numbers for you. Thank you and have a great week.

This is the latest update of the happenings at Oakdale. We just received confirmation that Students will not return to campus until at least April 20th. Teachers have been working hard to prepare work for students to get them through at least that period of time. Because we are anticipating the county to call for a shelter in place, we want to get you materials sooner rather than later. Tomorrow Friday, March 20th, will be the last opportunity to pick up work for your students for at least the next 4 weeks. If you were able to get all 4-5 weeks of material you do not need to come in. If you did not get any material, or just the one weeks worth, You will need to come in Tomorrow Friday the 20th between 8:30 and 3:00. One requirement from the governor is that we are able to show that students are still doing some sort of learning. It is important that you come by and pick up work. If you Picked up work today, we have the rest of it ready for pick up between 8:30 and 3:00 Friday March 20th. Thank you for all that you do for your children. Please stay healthy and take care of your families. We will get through these trying times, and we can not wait to have students back at their desks.

"Students in Room 10, Mrs. King's 3rd grade class, read an article in Scholastic News about recycling markers. They decided they wanted to collect and recycle markers also. Please send all colored markers to Room 10 so that the students can sort, package, and mail them to Crayola for recycling. The markers are recycled as energy for cars! Now that's taking care of Earth!"
