Taking standardized tests can be frightening and stressful. What should you do if you freeze up on test day? Here are several tips to help you relax and concentrate.
Steady breathing. Close your eyes and take slow, deep breaths. Pay attention to the way your chest rises and falls. Count each time you inhale and exhale until you reach 10.
Relaxed muscles. You can also tense and relax you muscles. Start with your face, squeeze your muscles from head to toes, holding the muscles tense for five seconds and then releasing them.
Positive thinking. Close your eyes and imagine yourself confidently answering the questions. If you picture yourself doing well on the test, you're apt to feel more at ease.
