A special message from Superintendent Holtom. Next Wednesday, July 1, The Oroville City Elementary School District will be sharing publicly our comprehensive plan regarding the reopening of schools in August. I want to reassure parents that we will be offering multiple programs for students and their families, including a traditional 5 day a week program following our regular bell schedule, in addition to an enhanced distance learning program that was similar to the one we had in the spring. I know you have numerous questions and we are working very hard to provide a lot of answers as part of our July 1 press release. Following that July 1 press release we will be surveying families again to help us better prepare for the reopening of schools.

Dear Students, The end of the year schedule is listed above. At your scheduled time you will be allowed on campus (just you, by yourself, no parents, siblings or friends with you) to return items and pick up items. You will need to wear a mask and stay socially distanced. We love you, but won’t be able to hug you or give high fives at this time! Please bring the following items: The chromebook you checked out with the charger cord. Any textbooks you have for your classes. Any library books you may owe. Any other items you need to return to teachers or staff. A backpack or bag to carry items returned to you by your teachers. You will be taking a sign-out sheet to each of your teachers and will receive your free yearbook and any awards or certificates you have earned this year when you have it all signed off! We look forward to seeing you!!

All teachers have plans in place to help your students access learning from home. Each grade level can be accessed through your students’ google accounts. In case your student says they do not remember how to do this, we have uploaded links to both the grade level plans, contacts, and how to login to google on our Central website. If you are unable to access the internet at this time, a packet on how to do this will be available in the Central Gym from 1-3:00 p.m. on Thursday, 3/19. You do not need to get a packet if your student is already in contact with their teacher. You also do not need a packet if you are able to log onto the Central website. It is all the same information. Teachers will be available to support student needs Monday- Friday via Google classrooms and email. All of your students, with the exception of Ms. Maybee’s kids, know this process and have been using it for some time. Teacher emails can be found on our website and in the posted packets. BCOE is distributing food from the Central Gym starting Thursday, 3/19. It will be a drive through and students must be in the car to receive food. Central is one of several locations doing this in Oroville M-F from 11:30-12:30. Finally, on Thursday, 3/19 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and Friday, 3/20 from 9-11:00 a.m. Central will be checking out Chromebooks to parents of students at Central ONLY. Please bring ID. The Chromebooks will need to be returned in the shape they are checked out to avoid any costs. This is a free program as long as the Chromebooks are not broken or lost. Again, they will be returned to the school when this is over. Thursday, March 19, 1:00-3:00 p.m. - Packet pickup for parents without website access, in Central's gym Thursday, 3/19, 9:30-11:30 a.m. - Chromebook checkouts at Central Friday, March 20, 9:00-11:00 a.m. - Chromebook checkouts at Central Monday-Friday, 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. - Food drive through in Central's gym
