Welcome back Oakdale families. Our hope was to have a couple of different options for families returning back to school this fall, unfortunately, due to the county being placed back on the states watch list, we are left with starting the school year with enhanced distance learning. This will look quite a bit different than it did in the spring. The state has enacted several mandates that must be followed this time around. We have been working hard all summer to ensure that we provide an enhanced distance learning program that will ensure student success. School will start on its original date with all students logging into their google classroom starting at 9:00 am. For the first 8 days of school, Students will log in at the same time, 9:00 am, and meet with their class for an hour and a half. Starting on August 24th, Students will begin meeting according to the mandated minutes, by grade level, required by Governor Newsom, and the state superintendent. You will be getting more information about the enhanced distance learning model soon From Dr. Holtom.
We will be providing students with Chromebooks to use during this time. These Chromebooks will be assigned to each student for the entire year, including when we reopen the school site for students to attend in person. We will be handing out Chromebooks on Friday August 7th, Monday August 10, and Tuesday August 11th from 8:30 to 3:00. Chromebooks must be signed out to the parent or guardian of the student. We will not be able to hand chromebooks to siblings, or Grandparents, unless they are the guardian of the student. When you pick up the chromebook, you will also receive student account information and the name of the class they are assigned too. Please make sure you have also updated your data and contact information in the parent portal. Returning families should have access to the parent portal from last year. New families will receive information on how to log in to the parent Portal when they pick up their Chromebooks.
Even though this is not the way we ever thought the school year would start, we are excited to get the school year going and finally have some sort of contact with our students and families. See you soon
