We would like to thank the parents that attended our PSPS power outage parent forum that was held on November 5 at Ophir Elementary School.  We would also like to thank Assemblyman James Gallagher for sending a representative to the meeting to listen to the challenges we are facing as a school district and as parents. 

 We appreciate and welcome feedback on this topic.

Some of the feedback we received at last night's meeting was:

  • Parent shared concern about late starts for working families, especially those who have to be at work by 8 a.m.

  • If parents keep students home due to power outage it will not be an unexcused absence.

  • Question about hot water availability? Not in restrooms, but ensuring there is plenty of soap it the bathrooms.

  • If kitchen gets shut down, do we have to close schools? No because we can serve non perishable food

  • Quality of Education with no power? Not perfect, but teachers are working hard to make it productive

  • How do we deal with the homework when we don’ t have power at home? School site and parents should work with individual teachers.

We again thank all of our Ophir families as we work together to manage these power outage events.
