Healthy Habits
Healthy habits can protect you and your children from getting germs or spreading germs at home, work and school. Simple actions can stop germs and prevent illnesses.
Cover your mouth and nose
Use a tissue every time when you cough or sneeze and drop it in the trash. If you don’t have a tissue, cover your mouth and nose as best you can.
Clean your hands often
Clean your hands every time you cough or sneeze. Hand washing stops germs. Alcohol-based gels and wipes also work well.
Remind your children to practice healthy habits, too.
Germs that cause colds, coughs, flu and pneumonia can spread easily.
Healthy habits help reduce illnesses and sick days.
Feel good about doing the right things to stay well.
Healthy habits stop germs. At home, work and school.

Note from Ms. Belva
Please keep your child home from school for 24 hours after his/her fever breaks.
Teacher Appreciation Week May 4-8
Think back, waaaay back to your school days. There was at least one teacher who inspired you, who made you believe you could do anything. That teacher changed your life. Whether or not you knew it then, you know it now. Teachers are still in the business of changing lives today. By believing in their students, and encouraging them to work hard and dream big. And by helping kids discover that anything really is possible. These are the teachers who make a real difference in our world. So maybe it's our turn to make a difference in their lives by honoring their hard work and dedication. Here are a few suggestions:
* Write a note of appreciation to your child’s teacher, or inspire your child to do so.
* Contact your child's teacher and ask how you can help by volunteering in the classroom. Maybe a particular student is in need of extra one-on-one tutoring. Maybe you could assist with a reading group.
* Send a "report card" to the principal! Write a letter or report card telling the principal what a great job this teacher is doing.
* An apple a day keeps the doctor away!
* A single flower is always appreciated.
Parents:
During the week of Star testing the office will not be putting calls through to the classrooms. We suggest that doctor, dentist, etc. appointments be made at another time so students will not miss testing.
WyandotteAve.School is one of two schools in ButteCounty that benefits from the “Quality Education Investment Act” (QEIA). This grant is a result of a lawsuit filed by the California Teacher’s Association and has provided additional funds to our school for the purpose of:
*lowering class size in grades k-6
*ensuring experienced, qualified teachers
*providing resources to meet the requirements of API growth targets
*increasing student attendance
This is the second year of the seven year grant and the students of WyandotteAve.School will greatly benefit from this additional funding.
