The end to a wonderful year!

As the 2007-2008 school year comes to a close, we want to thank all of our families and students for helping to make yet another successful year at Bird Street School.  We are SO proud of all our students and the strides they made this year.  We wish everyone a happy and safe summer!

Please make sure to get everything in place for next year as early as you can.  Mrs. Chollet in the school office will be happy to help with anything you need.  Although there will be big changes to our staff next year, the spirit of Bird Street will live on and so will the important partnership between our school and our families.

(Please read our final newsletter from Mr. Sappenfield in the parent section of this website)

New Student Registration

Our new student registration began on April 1st.  If you have a new student to enroll, please come into our office so that Mrs. Chollet can help!  Each new student will need to present a birth certificate and immunization record.  Any current family who has a student at Bird Street on an inter-district agreement will need to reapply for the coming year.  All families should complete an updated information sheet each year too!  We can't wait to have our school full again next year with students who are ready to learn and families that are ready to help.

Trying to find where to go?

Each time you visit our website there is always something new to see.  Please click on our parent section on the left to find the most up-to-date school newsletters in case you missed your copy when it came home on Friday.  On the right hand side of the screen pay special attention to our announcements.  Exciting happenings and opportunities are posted there for students and families.  Also, look above this section and you will see something new.  We are doing our best to not only keep our students safe, but also to keep families informed.  If there is ever an emergency at any of our schools, you can click on the link to instantly go to our updated emergency page.  There you will get the facts on situations you may be hearing about from friends or the media.  We hope this will help you not only to stay informed, but also to rest assured that we care for your kids as if they were our own.

Our Vision
Bird Street students will become:

Responsible individuals who accept rules and consequences for behavior, are dependable, and have empathy for others.

Empowered confident and self-motivated learners who act upon their curiosity, see mistakes as learning opportunities, apply learning to new situations, and have a solid foundation in reading, writing, and mathematics.

Collaborative workers who show respect for others; contribute toward a common goal; can be both leaders and team players.

Critical thinkers who develop personal educational goals, use effective decision making strategies, and connect learning experiences with real life.

Our Mission
Our mission is to equip all students with the cognitive, social and academic skills that enable them to be happy, successful, contributing members of society.
Every Bird Street student will reach a high level of success in a nurturing environment with a partnership of parents and community that supports the development of the “whole child”.   Every student CAN LEARN. We have the means to MAKE IT HAPPEN.
