Coffee & Cookies with Capshew: We had a few parents able to show for our meeting this morning. It was such great conversation around "Response to Intervention". We talked, laughed, and gave input with some cookies and coffee. Please....please try to make the next meeting if able. They are once a month at 8:30 in the cafeteria. Smiles

Rally - Bird and Stanford: The kids met in the cafeteria today to review and learn the PAWS rules at Stanford. Kids practiced and learned the Stanford song and chant. Enroll Today for any Oroville Elementary School! OCESD is having an enrollment day for all new students on 11/28 and 11/29 from 12-4 at Ishi Hills Middle School room D-3. Students will be enrolled to be ready to start school on Monday, Dec 3rd.
OCESD has unlocked Accelerated Reader (AR) so students can take quizzes at home over the break.

On Thursday, Oct. 18th every site in OCESD joined over 10 million registered participants in the Great Shake Out! The Great California Shake Out is an annual opportunity to practice how to be safer during big earthquakes: "Drop, Cover and Hold On" www.shakeout.org/california/
PAWS Lunch - Stanford kids had such a great time with the first PAWS Lunch. Kids ate outside, listened to music, and played games with the CalFresh team. See a powerpoint of pictures in the "documents" section.
Kids are to be in the cafeteria before 8:00. They are not to leave the cafeteria before being dismissed. If they are seen by a teacher or myself, he/she will be given a detention. Please remind your child to stay in the cafeteria until dismissed, if he/she arrives before 8:00. Thank you.

Thank you for those able to attend our Back to School NIght last week. For those that couldn't make it, I put some slides on our "documents" section. These slides were what I went over prior to parents going to visit classrooms.
PBIS Parent Visit - Thanks to the parents and teachers for making our first Parent PBIS Visit successful. Kids walked with a teacher or parent around the campus telling the rules in the area. Their passport was marked as they told the rules, and they were given an ice cream afterward. Thank you! (more pics on facebook page)
PBIS Passport - On Friday the 24th, parents are invited out from 1:45 to 2:30. You can walk the school with your child, having him/her teach you the rules of the school. They will carry a passport for each area. When the passport is complete, you and your child can get an ice cream from the cafeteria.
STUDENT SAFETY..... Parents/Guardians, it is very important that you know all kids will be sent to the cafeteria to be supervised before teachers arrive at 8:00. At 8:00, kids will be released from the cafeteria and sent to their yard area (based on grade). Kids won't be given opportunity to sit by their classroom and hang in hallways. It is for their safety.
Parent Teacher Club - Stanford Avenue School would love our parents and guardians involved in our school activities and events. Whatever you can do is appreciated by your child and the Stanford Avenue Team. At Back to School Night, our PTC officers will be available to speak to regarding ways to get involved.

Spring WESTEM Science Fair - The Spring WESTEM Fair slides have been shared on the "Documents" section of the website. You will find two Powerpoints. One is specifically showing the Science Fair exhibits, while the other shows slides from the WESTEM Fair stations.
Stanford School is having a Mathathon on November 16th. Kids will be engaged in fun and challenging math that morning!
