November 20, 2019 Power Outage: Oroville City Elementary Schools will be open during the upcoming Public Safety Power Shutoff. We are encouraging students in sites without power to dress warmly in layers. Ophir Elementary is the only site planned to lose power at this time.

Our annual Axiom Thanksgiving will be November 26th! This year we are hosting the appetizers and entertainment at Axiom from 3-6 then we will be walking down the block to the Feather River Senior Center to enjoy the full Thanksgiving feast.
Each year we are amazed by how our supporters jump in to provide meal items for this dinner it really shows how much you guys care for the youth of Oroville.
Many of our students are from families that don't have the resources to enjoy a full Thanksgiving feast, and create the holiday memories we all cherish. With your help, we're able to provide a delicious meal for Axiom students and ensure they don't miss out on those treasured holiday traditions.

We would like to formally congratulate our School Site Council members.

Dear Parents and Community Members:
Our hearts go out to the students, teachers, and families who experienced the school shootings in Florida. These events are devastating for the victims, survivors, and communities and increase fear for students, parents, and educators throughout the country. In the Oroville City Elementary School District, all of us are working together to address training needs and safety concerns at the school sites. We appreciate all of the parents who are actively involved in this effort.
To help students show solidarity for the Florida victims, an “#Enough” campaign is being promoted in the media for Wednesday, March 14. The purpose of this event is to give students an opportunity to safely and respectfully express their views for the 17 students who lost their lives in the Florida incident. The media is also promoting student walk-outs.
Although OCESD supports the right for students to have civic engagement activities, we want all children to be safe. Here are the District expectations for the day:
Any student-led activities must comply with OCESD policies and procedures and be deemed safe by the school administration.
All activities must take place on the school campus. Students will not be allowed to leave school and non-students will not be allowed on the site.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s principal or Superintendent Penny Chennell-Carter, Ed. D.
