NOTICE OF VACANCY ON BOARD OF TRUSTEES
AND PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT OF SAID BOARD
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to the provisions of Education Code, Section 5092, the Board of Trustees of the Oroville City Elementary School District does hereby announce that effective September 12, 2008, there was created a vacancy on the Board of Trustees of the Oroville City Elementary School District.
THAT ON October 29, 2008, said Board of Trustees of the Oroville City Elementary School District did make a provisional appointment to fill the said vacancy and the name of the provisional appointee is:
BRUCE HARMON
THAT UNLESS a petition calling for a special election, containing not less than 1-1/2% verified signatures of registered voters of the vacant district is filed in the Office of Education, 1859 Bird Street, Oroville, CA 95965, within thirty (30) days of the date of said provisional appointment, to-wit, November 28, 2008, said apointment shall become an effective appointment.
THAT SAID petition calling for a special election when circulated shall contain the County Clerk's estimate of the cost of conducting the special election.

At a recent board meeting, retiree Sharon Politovich was honored for her 20 years of service to the district. Sharon served as a food service worker and cook at Bird Street Elementary School. Her supervisor, Paul Mabie, wrote the following about Sharon:
As her supervisor, it was a pleasure to know her. She was pleasant to work with, cooperative, helpful, and cared about doing a good job. I appreciated her hard work, her flexibility to change, and her consistency in the quality of her work. I welcome her to come back as a substitute at any time.
Sharon attended the board meeting with her husband Don.
